In November 2024, we traveled to Spain. Our itinerary included Madrid, Toledo, Barcelona and Sitges. After Madrid, we chose to take a approximately 30 minute train ride to Toledo. Toledo is an ancient city set up on a hill in the central part of Spain. It’s very picturesque with beautiful bridges, landscape and cultural reminders of the beautiful city that is Toledo.

Toledo was one of Spain’s oldest towns. It has a 4000 year history. Known as “The the  City of Three Cultures”, once a city where Christians Jews and Muslims lived side-by-side and relative harmony. The city is located on the Tagus River and is beautifully surrounded by the most amazing landscape and bridges.

Toledo is know for it’s medieval architecture. As you walk through the town, you can only imagine what life might have been like back in those medieval times. Alcazar is an historical fortress that dominates the Toledo skyline. Another place to stroll both inside and outside is the Toledo Cathedral. The Spanish Gothic style is certain to excite the most intriguing history buff and a must see for anyone visiting Toledo.

A must do activity is the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour where you can sit on the top deck and enjoy the sites of Toledo from a route that encircles the town. I recall taking numerous videos of the landscape which I found to be most beautiful. The Tagus River can be seen from various angles on the trip around and many photo ops will thrill any photographer, novas or professional.
